Sunset Beach, NC and Beyond: Thursday Truths in the Life of a Realtor ~

Thursday Truths in the Life of a Realtor ~

THURSDAY TRUTHS IN THE LIFE OF A REALTOR

We all have our stories to tell and it seems when some of us want to rant about something, we tend to keep it within our community as a (Members Only) post.

Granted some things are not meant to be shared with the PUBLIC ~ but why should we hold back?  Are we afraid they will think less of us? We are human beings who have feelings and quite often we are offended by inconsiderate people.  We work hard for our clients, finding the perfect home, making an appointment to see it and when they become a "no show" without even a phone call ~

Why shouldn't the PUBLIC KNOW about the situations we encounter.

I realize this is the Life of a Realtor, but isn't it time we let the PUBLIC know the TRUTH ~ Are we afraid to take a stand for ourselves??

Everyone is always commenting and blogging about wanting to educate the public about Real Estate ~ Is this not something to educate them about?

One story after another has been blogged about here on Active Rain, educate the public, educate the public (Members Only) ~

THIS IS NOT A RANT, THIS IS THE TRUTH ~

We want to be RESPECTED as PROFESSIONALS ~

We want to be TREATED as PROFESSIONALS ~ ~

WHAT IS THE POWER OF ACTIVE RAIN and WHERE IS IT GOING??

Great post.  I have often been disappointed to see people post as Members Only when it really is something that should be broadcast.  Since I haven't been around long, I thought maybe they just have 'general admission' to AR and can't post publicly.  But if you are a RainMaker, I agree that you should stop and think if you REALLY want it Members Only.

Thanks Mimi. I agree we need to spread more posts out to the public instead making jokes about what Realtors do all day long

Frank & Karen~ I agree with you but must say that in the past I have written post that outlines how something works for the public and then the comments take it in a different direction and I have changed the status to members only. I think that we all need to monitor our post to make sure that they remain in the tone that we intended.

Melissa ~ I don't expect people to agree of disagree with me here ~ Most people are not brave enough to tell the truth to the public for fear of "losing face"

Couldn't agree more!  For the most part everything I write is available for the public to read.  Many times I do think consumers are unaware of what our job truly entails and letting them know is in our best interest -- and theirs!

Melissa makes a very good point about monitoring our posts to be certain they don't go off topic and confuse consumers.  Thanks, Fozzie!

Frank and Karen - we couldn't agree more with you. I have seen some posts lately that really should have been public but on the other hand I have seen some that certainly shouldn't have been public... go figure.. Great post though... I suggested as well...

Bob & Lisa ~ This is really just about telling it like it is, the truth be told

Tish ~ I'm thinking of sticking to Localism ~ No worries, no problems, no confusion

Hi!  I think it would depend on the post and subject matter.  Sometimes the subject matter puts our profession into an unrespectable light and really shouldn't be shared.  Other than that, if it's something that everyone should know then I agree, let it all show :)!  Great post that is sure to cause some controversy!  I can't wait...suggested :)!

Brenda ~ It certainly does depend on the subject matter, but this topic that I wrote about, the public should know how the public treats us...

I am all for making those topics open to the public!  I wrote a post a long time ago about "who do you call?"  It was mainly about someone calling me and asking for my help and then getting annoyed when I offered it.  You should go read my little poem, "I wish your home was worth more too".  It didn't go over well, but I thought it was cute :)!

We agree to a certain extent. The blog post you commented on ours the other day was a members only because we recently saw a post here on A/R that went out to the public and we then saw it on a google page, where the comments from the public were so mean that it was finally deleted. Like #3 said, "sometimes comments take the wrong direction." Yes we want to be treated and respected as professionals, but by making it a members only post, it may help to hear other professional points of view that can help us all be more appreciated and then focus on the real issue ~ selling Real Estate!

Larry & Sheila ~ I guess in a perfect world we would all be considerate of each others time ~ I can't seem to relate inconsiderate behavior to another situation or to someone else's job to help the public understand ~

As you can see others don't have a point of view, otherwise there would be more comments....People only comment there true feelings when it's a (Members Only) post...
