With Growth comes a new VA Clinic to Brunswick County
The long-awaited Veterans Administration Clinic in Brunswick County will open in August, according to a Wednesday announcement from U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre's office.
The clinic will be located at 20 Medical Campus Drive, Unit 106, in Supply.
"This new clinic will provide valuable services to the veterans population and honor their commitment and service to our nation," McIntyre, a Lumberton Democrat, stated in a news release. "I am thrilled to be able to help our veterans right here at home."
Brunswick County veterans now have to travel to Wilmington or Fayetteville for VA
treatment. About 13,000 veterans live in Brunswick County, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
A Ribbon cutting is scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, August 1st.
Area veterans registered through the VA Medical Center in Fayetteville should have received a letter asking if they wanted to switch to the Brunswick County clinic to set up appointments.
The first week of August, the clinic will see veterans four days a week, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Services will roll out in three phases.
The first will be a clinical team that includes a registered nurse and a
licensed practical nurse.
The second phase will offer monthly clinics for issues such as infectious disease, minor procedure, spinal health and women's health.
Once about 1,000 patients are signed up, a second clinical team will be recruited – the third phase.
Brunswick County is the second fastest growing county in North Carolina and this clinic is a wonderful opportunity to better serve our local veterans.
GOD BLESS THE USA AND DON'T FORGET TO THANK A VETERAN!!
